(TheRedWire.com) – Scientists worldwide continue to fight against the COVID-19 virus, as evidenced by the fact that multiple vaccines have made their way into hospitals across the United States. However, it sometimes seems the bug is fighting back. Scientists in the United Kingdom (UK) discovered a new strain that appears to have a human-to-human transfer rate much higher than any other mutation yet seen.
Some panic is setting in around Europe regarding the new mutant strain of #SARSCoV2 that has emerged in the UK.
In this quick thread I'm going to review findings presented to UK govt on 12/18 from scientific advisors re variant dubbed VUI-202012/01.

As of December 22, 2020, 40+ countries have closed their borders to travelers from the UK, with some American politicians pushing for the same. France has closed the Chunnel to traffic, which has left more than 1500 truckers stranded in Kent, England, waiting to get their cargo over the border.
It’s been reported that the experts at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research are looking at this new version of the virus to ensure that the existing vaccines will be effective against it. The good news: They are cautiously optimistic that the inoculations will be able to protect recipients.
