(TheRedWire.com) – Former President Donald Trump’s lawyer, Alina Habba, argued that releasing his mugshot was “one of the best things” to have happened to him. Habba, a senior adviser for MAGA Inc., a pro-Trump Super PAC, made the statement to Newsmax, a conservative news outlet.
On Thursday, Trump turned himself into the Fulton County jail following his indictment on 13 counts by a state court over his attempts to overturn the presidential election results in Georgia in 2020. The former President has maintained that he has committed no wrongdoings and has argued that the case against him is part of a “witch hunt” and an attempt at “election interference.”
While Trump has been indicted three times this year, this was the first time that his mug shot was taken and released by the local authorities. Both his critics and supporters have since shared the mug shot.
Habba, on Friday in her statements, argued that the mugshot was positively affecting Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign. She added that people were not “stupid” and that this was probably “one of the best things” to have happened to Trump. The clip of her remarks has been widely shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, where it has received over 230,000 views.
In a separate Newsmax appearance that same day, Habba stated that she had spoken with the former President and that he was doing great and was “happy to put yesterday behind him.” She added that just looking at the numbers this week and the reaction to his one Twitter post, it has been a good week for him.
