Woman Dead After Daylight Attack in New York

(TheRedWire.com) – Crime continues to rise in big cities across America. One never knows when they’ll be the next victim. 58-year-old Than Htwe was with her adult son on the way to a doctor’s appointment on July 17 when she became victim of a bungled robbery in a New York City subway station.

New York City police released a photo of 52-year-old David Robinson, who is wanted in connection with Htwe’s death. He allegedly grabbed her backpack from behind as she walked up the stairs. The two fell down the stairs, and the would-be robber fled the scene. Although brain surgeons attempted to repair her injuries, Htwe died as a result of the injury without regaining consciousness.

The family made the difficult decision to discontinue life support and donate her organs to those in need. They also started a GoFundMe account to defray medical costs, raising more than $48,000. Her son wrote on the fundraising page people should always cherish the time they have with their mothers, and reminded people to hug, kiss and tell their mothers they are loved. He thanked everyone for their support.

Htwe emigrated from Myanmar three years ago with her son and husband to pursue the American dream. She worked as a seamstress. Her husband called her a “very good woman.”
