(TheRedWire.com) –  President Biden’s 2024 presidential campaign is trying to appeal to older voters in an effort to win over a voting bloc that has historically been reliable.

Last week, they launched their “Seniors for Biden-Harris” effort which is led by first lady Jill Biden. As part of the efforts, they have started pickleball events and bingo nights in many battleground states including Arizona, Nevada, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. This latest push comes after Biden has struggled to gain the support of key voting groups.

While Biden appears to be struggling in the polls, the older voters could turn out to be a brighter spot in his campaign. According to a Fox News poll from this week, Biden has managed to gain the lead over former President Donald Trump by 2 points for the first time since October. In the poll, it was also shown that Biden is leading by 15 points over the former President among voters who are above the age of 65.

Republican firm Fabrizio Ward pollster Bob Ward stated that the seniors as a group are available. He added that it is in the campaign’s best interest to focus on this group. He noted that he also believes the Trump campaign should focus on senior voters.

Previously, Ward had worked with Impact Research, a Democratic firm, to poll voters from the 44 most competitive congressional districts. In that poll, it was found that Biden is in the lead by 5 percentage points among voters who are over the age of 65.
