(TheRedWire.com) – On Sunday, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) during an appearance on “Fox News Sunday” slammed his colleagues in the Senate for pushing for more oversight over the country’s highest court, claiming that they were just trying to “micromanage” the Supreme Court.
Graham during his comments argued that the worst possible thing for the country is if the House and the Senate were left to decide which cases the Supreme Court is going to hear. The top-ranking GOP Senator on the Senate Judiciary Committee had sided with other Senators from his party to block a bill that would mandate that the Supreme Court needs to adopt a code of conduct, which they should then enforce. This push for a code of conduct has come after several high-profile controversies that have emerged concerning certain justices.
Graham claimed that they were attempting to micromanage the court of Chief Justice John Roberts and to destroy justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito simply because they are conservatives.
In the past few years, there have been heavy criticisms of the Supreme Court following the reports that the justices had accepted multiple luxury gifts and trips that were never disclosed. This has resulted in a push for greater oversight over the behavior and actions of the justices, and the gifts that they accept.
The Senate Judiciary Committee Democrats have been pushing for move oversight of the Supreme Court. These efforts were further increased after it was revealed that Alito had flown outside his home flags connected to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, following Biden’s inauguration.
