(TheRedWire.com) – In a new interview, President Joe Biden claimed that it was reasonable for people to believe that the reason Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was attempting to prolong the war in Gaza was because of the benefits it brought him politically.
On May 28, during an interview, Biden argued that he would not be making a comment on that, but that there was “every reason” for people to reach that conclusion. Biden also argued before the start of the war between Israel and Hamas in October, Netanyahu had been dealing with a lot of criticism for his judicial reforms that would reduce balances and checks.
Biden pointed out that this was an internal domestic debate on whether or not he would be changing his position which has not been helpful in this situation. He continued by pointing out that his main disagreement with the Israeli prime minister when it comes to the war relates to when it will end, and what will happen when it does.
Biden is a supporter of the two-state solution between Palestine and Israel; however, Netanyahu has opposed this idea, sill he has argued that Israeli occupation is not a solution but has not yet brought forward a different solution for what will happen after the war.
Israel has faced a lot of criticism in recent months over the way that they have handled the war with Hamas, which has led to over 35,000 Palestinians being killed. Those in Gaza currently have been left without access to sufficient medicine, water, or food.
