(TheRedWire.com) – On Friday, former Fox News host Tucker Carlson pushed former Vice President Mike Pence Friday over his description of the events that unfolded on Jan. 6, 2021, during the Capitol attack. At the time a pro-Trump mob had attacked the Capitol which resulted in all Congress members being evacuated by lawmakers. The ordeal also led to the process of counting electoral votes being interrupted following the 2020 presidential election.

Carlson had previously insisted that the Capitol attack on Jan. 6 was for the most part “peaceful chaos.” He also pointed out how Pence’s decision to break from former President Donald Trump is one of the most defining characteristics of the campaign. Pence received a lot of criticism from Trump supporters who oppose his actions on that day. This could also prove to be a problem for him as he tries to win the White House.

Carlson started off his questions by first questioning whether the former Vice President believed the Capitol attack to be an “insurrection.” Pence in response stated that what he could say for sure was that he had to live through that “tragic day.” He further stated that in the last two years, he had never used the word insurrection to describe the riot.

Pence had managed to leave the Capitol as many rioters entered the building in an attempt to block the certification of President Biden’s electoral victory. As the former Vice President pointed out he had witnessed how many of the police officers were assaulted during the riot and referred to the “tragic loss of life.”
