(TheRedWire.com) – On Tuesday during a campaign visit following the end of his day in court, former President Donald Trump claimed while in a bodega that the criminal trial against him had a “reverse effect.” He continued by promising that he would be straightening New York out by working with the governor and mayor in order to sort everything out if he is reelected.

After attending the second day of his criminal trial which is related to the charges that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg brought forward against him in connection to a hush money payment, he had allegedly made ahead of the 2016 presidential election, Trump visited a bodega in Upper Manhattan.

During his campaign stop, Trump was greeted by a crowd of his supporters who were chanting “Four more years.” Members of the crowd were also singing the National Anthem.

In his remarks during his visit to the bodega, Trump slammed the trial arguing that it was “rigged” and that it was all the doing of President Joe Biden’s White House. He then stated that the trial was making him campaign locally, and that so far from what he could see the trial was having the reverse effect as they are performing better than before in the 2024 presidential election polls. Trump is the presumed Republican nominee in the race.

Trump argued that they needed to narrow in on crime and allow police officers to do their job again. He added that his campaign was going to make “a big play for New York” as he loved the city. As he pointed out though the situation in New York has worsened over the last three to four years so he would make sure to work to straighten the city out.
