(TheRedWire.com) – The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is considering hiring special agents who are going to carry guns and make arrests in every state.

The Criminal Investigation (CI) Division of the IRS, is hiring across different locations in the U.S. The IRS special agents hired for the Criminal Investigation Division are going to be the only IRS employees who will be authorized to both carry and use firearms. The CI predominantly investigates cases of financial crimes, money laundering, tax-related identity theft, and terrorist financing efforts.

In their job posting for the position, the IRS notes under “major duties” that special agents needed to be prepared to carry and use firearms for their own protection during attacks and in “life-threatening situations.” It further notes that those applying should be “willing to use force up to and including the use of deadly force.”

There are also a number of other requirements for those who want to become a special agent under the CI including being a U.S. citizen over 21 and under the age of 37 by the time of appointment. Those who apply for the job need to also be “willing and able to participate in arrests, execution of search warrants, and other dangerous assignments.”

Jobseekers must meet a number of other requirements, including having U.S. citizenship and being between the age of 21 at the time of completing the training academy and 37 at the time of appointment. Other requirements include being able to pass pre-employment medical and tax exams, as well as drug tests in order to legally be allowed to own a firearm.
