(TheRedWire.com) – On Monday, Florida Republican Representative Mike Waltz claimed that it is possible that the Pentagon deliberately hid from former President Donald Trump the information about a Chinese spy balloon entering U.S. airspace.
During an interview with Fox Business News’s Varney & Co., Waltz was asked to address the new information about spy balloons flying over the country during the Trump administration. In response, Waltz said that the office of the Secretary of Defense of the current Pentagon had informed them that it had happened before over Florida and Texas, however, whether it had happened during the Trump administration is something that he can only speculate about.
He added that over the weekend he talked with Trump White House officials and the current speculation is that the Pentagon deliberately kept the information from Trump because they feared Trump would be impulsive, or “too provocative and too aggressive.”
On Saturday, President Joe Biden announced that the Chinese balloon had been shot down by the U.S. military off the coast of South Carolina. Biden has faced a lot of criticism for not having the balloon shot down earlier on. Trump has also criticized Biden for his choices.
However, on Saturday following the balloon being shot down a senior U.S. defense official revealed that similar Chinese spy balloons had flown over the country before, three times during the Trump administration and once during the beginning of the Biden administration.
Trump had called these claims “disinformation” stating that this had never happened.
