(TheRedWire.com) – South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham (R) said on Saturday that Turkey was turning into ‘The Squad’ of NATO. The statement was made in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, where Graham claimed that in particular, the country’s senior leadership was trying to become NATO’s “Squad” and that the situation was both “destabilizing” and disappointing.

Graham’s remarks were made in connection to a Fox News article in which Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke about the recent escalation in the conflict between Israel and Hamas. During his remarks in front of a crowd in Istanbul, Erdoğan stated that for the last 22 days, Israel has committed war crimes and that Western leaders had not even pushed the country for a cease-fire or reacted in any way to the situation.

He then pointed out that they were going to tell everyone in the world that Israel was a war criminal and that this was something they were preparing for.

On Saturday in response to these comments, Israel recalled all its diplomats from the country. Eli Cohen, the Israeli Foreign Minister stated in an X post that following the “grave statements” from the Turkish president they have called for the return of all diplomatic representatives who were previously in Turkey, arguing that they would also be reevaluating the relationship between Turkey and Israel.

Graham used this opportunity to attack certain House Representatives, including Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.), Ilhan Omar (Minn.), Jamal Bowman (N.Y.), Ayanna Pressley (Mass.), and Cori Bush (Mo.), who have openly called out Israel before.
