(TheRedWire.com) – On Monday, former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) slammed Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) arguing that he was not “fit to serve” after he claimed that without the pro-Trump electors, he would have been selected to not certify the 2020 presidential election results.

On Sunday during an interview on ABC “This Week” Vance claimed that he would have given states the right to send different slates of electors following the 2020 election. He added that Congress would then fight “over it from there.” He added that the 2020 election had “problems.”

Cheney in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, pointed out that during his interview Vance had claimed that Trump had the ability to defy the Supreme Court’s ruling as the U.S. President. She added that Vance had also admitted that on January 6th he would have been willing to take the action that Vice President Pence had refused to take, giving Trump the assistance he needed to “illegally seize power.’

She continued by pointing out this was “tyranny” and argued that neither of the two were “fit to serve.”

In 2020, then-Vice President Mike Pence refused to give states the right to send multiple slates of electors, as the U.S. Constitution lays out. Pence had also opted to certify the results of the presidential election which ultimately led to Trump supporters storming the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, in an attempt to block the certification of the election.

Vance also reiterated his previous comments that the U.S. president had the right to ignore “illegitimate” rulings by the Supreme Court.
