(TheRedWire.com) – On Wednesday the House Oversight and Accountability Committee had a hearing to consider a contempt of Congress resolution against Hunter Biden.
However, Biden, who had defied the subpoena he had been sent last month, ended up appearing in the hearing room.
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) questioned who had bribed the President’s son to get him to be in Congress after he had defied the subpoena. She added that this was the “epitome of white privilege” as he had shown his face during the committee hearing about a congressional subpoena that he had defied. She proceeded to question what Hunter Biden was afraid of and added that she believed Biden needed to be arrested right here and there and be taken to jail.
Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-N.Y.) then proceeded to suggest that they should hold a vote about potentially hearing from Biden on the spot, however only the Democrats voted in favor of that idea.
Biden was joined in the hearing by his attorney Abbe Lowell and entertainment lawyer Kevin Morris, who is set to appear for his deposition before the House Judiciary Committee next week.
Both Biden and Lowell ended up leaving the hearing room when Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) started talking. Lowell proceeded to slam Republican lawmakers while defending his client as a private citizen. He added that the GOP was aiming to use Hunter Biden as a “surrogate to attack his father” President Joe Biden.
Hunter Biden has refused to attend a private deposition arguing that instead he would testify willingly in a public setting. He further noted during his statement that his father was not financially involved in his business.
