(TheRedWire.com) – Latino truckers have planned to boycott Florida following Governor Ron DeSantis’s signing of a new law that targeted specifically those who arrived in the country undocumented. In the recent video posted on social media, the truckers call for solidarity with “our Latin American brother.”

On Social Media videos were posted from the truckers showing that they are planning on launching their boycott on June 1st, which is also the expected date for the new restrictions to go into effect. The boycott is in response to SB 1718 which recently passed through the state legislature and was signed by DeSantis. According to this law, employers would be obliged to always check through online monitoring software before providing a position to someone. DeSantis signed the bill on Wednesday and has since then been congratulated by many Republicans who support DeSantis’ latest immigration rule. On the other hand, many Democrats including New York Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have slammed policymakers for allegedly taking for granted the migrant communities.

In the TikTok video which since its posting on Saturday amassed 82,000 likes, the trucker announced that his vehicle was not going to go to Florida. He added that if the Latino community remained united, they would be able to fight against the new law in Florida.

In a video on Thursday which has been viewed more than 18,000 times, a different driver is saluting in solidarity for not picking up or dropping off any cargo from the area. In response to that video, Roberto Sandoval, another Trucker, stated that he was going to defend the Latino community.
