(TheRedWire.com) – Former President Trump in an exclusive statement to Fox News Digital argued that “deranged” Special Counsel Jack Smith needed to “immediately” drop all the charges that had been filed against him in relation to the classified documents mishandling case after it was decided by a different special counsel that no charges would be brought forward against President Biden in connection to the classified documents he had retained.
Following the release of Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report on Thursday, where it was noted that there were no criminal charges recommended against Biden for having mishandled classified documents, Trump has reacted by opposing his own indictment.
Hur in the report states that even if President Biden was not currently in office, he would still not opt to file charges, despite the fact that the documents in question included information about the country’s military and foreign policy in Afghanistan, as well as other national security issues.
Special Counsel Jack Smith who handled the investigation into Trump’s case of mishandling classified documents, ended up bringing 37 felony charges against the former President. Trump has pleaded not guilty to all charges, including those relating to conspiracy to obstruct justice and willful retention of national defense information.
Following the original indictment, an additional five counts were brought forward as part of a superseding indictment. Trump has also pleaded not guilty to all these counts.
Trump informed Fox News Digital that the case against him needed to be dropped immediately and that his case is covered by the Presidential Records Act, while Biden’s case is not. He added that Biden had more documents that were completely unguarded, while all of Trump’s documents were in locked rooms and protected by the Secret Service.
