(TheRedWire.com) – According to one legal analyst, former President Donald Trump’s legal team appears to have a moment out of the 1990s film Clueless.

MSNBC legal analyst Lisa Rubin, in a recent post on X, formerly known as Twitter, reacted to Trump’s team’s failure to appeal the gag order that was reinstated in the New York civil case against him. A New York appellate court had informed the lawyers that they missed the deadline to appeal the gag order for this week. However, they still have the option of appealing again next week.

Trump is currently in the middle of a $250 million civil fraud trial in New York, which was brought forward by New York Attorney General Letitia James against him, his two adult sons, and the Trump Organization. According to the suit, Trump had repeatedly inflated the worth of his assets to acquire more beneficial business deals while deflating them to benefit from lower taxation.

Last month, a state appellate court judge temporarily froze the two gag orders placed on Trump and his team by Judge Arthur Engoron, who presides over this case. The two orders had been imposed on Trump in October and were meant to prevent the former President from commenting on the court staff.

On Monday, Trump lawyers attempted to get permission from the appellate court to file a request with the Court of Appeals to pause the gag order. However, they were informed that such a decision could only be made by a full panel, not a single judge.
