(TheRedWire.com) – DC Judge Tanya Chutkan who is tasked with overseeing the federal election interference case against former President Donald Trump was reportedly a “swatting” victim on Sunday night.

Law enforcement has reported that they received a false alarm relating to a shooting at a property linked to Chutkan. The Officers who responded to the site at around 10pm on Sunday were quick to determine that there had not been a shooting.

It is not yet clear whether the home in question was Chutkan’s residence and whether or not she had been present at the time of the squatting. In recent weeks there has been an incline in the number of high-profile individuals who have fallen victim to swatting incidents. Among the recent victims were Reps. Brandon Williams (R-N.Y.) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) as well as California Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, and Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.).

Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows was also recently targeted following her decision that former president Donald Trump was not eligible to be on the state’s primary ballot.

Last Wednesday, the police had to respond to half a dozen threats in state Capitols.

On Friday, Merrick Garland, the Attorney General, denounced the spike arguing that the threats of violence were “unacceptable” and these actions were a threat to U.S. democracy.

Chutkan previously faced a threat in August, when a woman from Texas had been arrested after making death threats towards Chutkan as well as a Democratic congresswoman.
