(TheRedWire.com) – On Tuesday, Christopher Wray, the director of the FBI, testified during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing that the terror threat that the United States is currently facing has reached unprecedented levels following the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas against Israel.

During the hearing, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., asked the FBI director to describe what the “threat matrix” being faced by the United States is currently. In response, Wray stated that what makes the current environment unique is that this is the first time in his career that there are so many threats arising all simultaneously and that many of these threats are elevated. He added while there were previously occasions over the years when individual threats could increase or decrease, the levels had never before been where they are currently.

Graham pointed out that this could be seen as an analogy with 9/11. As he noted prior to 9/11 “all the lights” were red but none of them had noticed it. He then proceeded to ask whether Wray believed that there were any blinking red lights that were being ignored.

Wray responded by noting that from what he could see there were “blinking red lights everywhere.” He proceeded to say that since the attack against Israel, which resulted in at least 1,200 Israelis being killed and hundreds of others being taken hostage, the threat levels had climbed to an entirely different level.

The comments made by Wray during this latest hearing closely echo the comments that he had made in October when he had warned the Senate about the effect that the actions taken by Hamas would have on terrorist groups.
