(TheRedWire.com) – On Friday, Republican National Committee chair candidate Harmeet Dhillon failed to unseat chair Ronna McDaniel. Following her loss, Dhillon noted that the “party’s going to have to deal with that fallout and disconnect from the grassroots.”

Dhillon, an RNC committee member from California, added that if they ignore the clear message of what had occurred during the election, then it would be a “peril” for the entire party. Despite the last two months of criticisms and accusations, McDaniel was able to be reelected as the chair of the RNC after winning the support of 111 committee members. In order to have won the positions she needed the support of the majority of the 168 members. This would be her fourth two-year term as chair of the RNC.

Dhillon, an attorney who has previously worked for Trump, was supported by 51 committee members, while MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, only won 4 votes during the election.

Dhillon’s campaign had been focused on the changes that the party would need to make, especially following their underwhelming performances in recent elections, and especially in the 2022 midterm election where the red wave that Republicans had anticipated failed to materialize. Following her loss in the election, she expressed disappointment in the results, especially because of all the hard work that she had put towards the campaign.

Dhillon added that this vote made it abundantly clear that members of the RNC were not currently aligned or in touch with what the voters want, which is something that as a party they will need to deal with.
