(TheRedWire.com) – On Monday, former President Donald Trump made an eight-minute appearance in which he slammed Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D) and several others while outside the courthouse. Trump’s hush money trial which was brought forward by Bragg has been underway for a week, making him the first U.S. president, either current or former, to have been involved in a criminal trial.

Trump during his appearance insisted that he was innocent and continued to claim that the case against him was one of political interference that was trying to block him from winning back the White House. He also slammed the adjournment of the court proceedings for the dental appointment of a juror and argued that prosecutors were deliberately doing everything possible to extend the trial for as much as possible.

In reference to the payment made to adult film star Stormy Daniels, Trump argued that in his books they called the payment made to a lawyer a legal expense. As he argued they did not refer to it as construction. He continued by arguing that the payment had indeed been a legitimate “legal expense” and that it had not been aiming to conceal any wrongdoing.

Trump has also tried to distance himself from his former fixer Michael Cohen, who has repeatedly claimed that Trump was aware that the payment had been made to Daniels. Cohen has now been disbarred as he has pleaded guilty to several charges including bank fraud. He has also argued that Trump’s payment was just an attempt at covering up his alleged affair with Daniels.
