(TheRedWire.com) – Hamas has freed another five hostages who had been captured on Oct. 7 during the surprise attack against Israel. The release of additional hostages has given renewed hope to the families of the more than 200 other hostages.

Still, despite the recent release, the families of those who are still being kept as hostages have many questions about why the release of the hostages is taking so long. They have also questioned why certain hostages are being released over others. Many have also wondered whether the heavy airstrikes against Gaza could potentially be endangering their loved ones.

On Tuesday, during a press conference on Capitol Hill with the House GOP leadership, one Israeli thanked all those in attendance and the American government for their aid. However, they added that what they were doing was not enough and that additional assistance was required immediately as they did not know what the condition of their loved ones was.

They added that this was a “call for action” and a “wake-up call” not just for Israel or the Jewish community but rather for the entire world, including Europe and America. They further warned that they were “next” and that they needed to do everything possible to stop the atrocities that were occurring. They further pointed out that it was necessary to remember what had happened on October 7 and to make sure they were doing anything they could to “stop this.”

On Oct. 30, Israel announced that they had managed to rescue a hostage for the first time—the rescuing of Army Pvt. Ori Megidish had come after the earlier release by Hamas of two Americans, Judith Raanan, 59, and her daughter, Natalie, 18. Other hostages have also been released.

Hamas has argued that they would continue to release hostages in exchange for the thousands of Palestinian prisoners that Israel is holding. However, the Israeli government has rejected this offer.
