(TheRedWire.com) – In recent remarks to CNN, Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) argued that no one believed that there was not a sexual relationship between former President Donald Trump and adult film star Stormy Daniels. As he pointed out no one was going to pay $130,000 “not to have sex” with that person.

Michael Cohen, former fixer and personal attorney for Trump had paid Daniels the amount on behalf of Trump around one and a half weeks before the 2016 election, in exchange for her remaining quiet about her alleged affair with Trump. Later on, Daniels described to “60 Minutes” and Anderson Cooper how she and Trump had slept together in 2006 in a hotel suite after meeting at Lake Tahoe during a celebrity golf tournament.

Trump had afterward denied having an affair with Daniels and his legal team had threatened that they would file a lawsuit against her after she violated a nondisclosure agreement. However, Romney, who had been a vocal critic of the former President, told CNN that he did not believe Trump’s story.

Romney, who has announced that he won’t be seeking reelection at the end of his term, told CNN’s Manu Raju outside the Capitol that he believes everyone had made their own decisions regarding the character of former President Donald Trump.

Trump is currently on trial for the hush money payment as Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D) indicted Trump on charges of falsifying business records in connection with New York law.

On Tuesday the jurors heard the testimony of the National Enquirer former publisher David Pecker who had promised Trump during his presidential run that he would be buying any possibly harmful stories to stop them from going public.
