(TheRedWire.com) – Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., has blasted the Biden administration following a United Nations resolution vote calling for a cease-fire in Gaza, which was vetoed by the United States. The U.S. was the only country to vote “no” against the resolution.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, which showed that the United States was the only country to vote against the resolution, the progressive Representative commented: “Shameful.” In her comment, she pointed out that the Biden administration could no longer claim that they were concerned about the lives of the people in Palestine and for any human rights violations while at the same time vetoing a resolution in the United Nations pushing for a ceasefire. She further pointed out that this was “sidestepping” the Congress, which would now need to support the bombing of Gaza.

A U.S. official who was asked for any comments they had in response to Ocasio-Cortez told Fox News Digital that while the processes in the United Nations had been rushed when it came to this resolution, the United States had still tried to engage with the resolution only to have all of their suggestions ignored.

Out of all voting countries, thirteen called for an immediate cease-fire and the release of all the hostages, while the U.K. abstained and the U.S. vetoed the resolution.

The U.S. deputy ambassador to the U.N., Robert Wood, claimed that the United States was still looking to see peace in the region and that they were only critical of the means the resolution would use to achieve this peace.
