(TheRedWire.com) –  Former President Donald Trump is trying to win the support of voters in his home state. As part of his efforts, he has been taking advantage of the division within the GOP to gain control of Florida without the assistance of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, one of his 2024 Republican primary rivals.

On Saturday, DeSantis, Trump, and other primary candidates are scheduled to address the state’s Republicans during a party event. CNN has reported that that DeSantis is going to take the stage after Sen. Rick Scott and before Rep. Randy Fine, who had recently accused DeSantis of not taking enough action to address antisemitism in Florida.

Scott and Fine have endorsed Trump in the 2024 presidential race. Trump is also scheduled to appear during the event as the keynote speaker. Before him, the stage will be taken by Reps. Byron Donalds and Matt Gaetz.

On Wednesday, the Republicans will meet on the debate stage in Miami. However, Trump will be skipping the third presidential primary and will instead host his event in Hialeah, which is nearby. On Thursday, he will also be hosting many of the state’s Republicans in Mar-a-Lago, while DeSantis will partake in a different fundraising event.

Next week, lawmakers are also set to go back to Tallahassee as DeSantis has called for them to sanction Iran following the Oct. 7 Hamas surprise attack on Israel and take action over the property insurance crisis that has emerged in the state.
