(TheRedWire.com) – Recently made public visitor logs show that there was a meeting between Hunter Biden’s legal team and the White House only days before he publicly announced that he would not be abiding by the congressional subpoena.
The encounter had reportedly taken place on Dec. 11 between First Lady Jill Biden’s key aide Anthony Bernal and Hunter Biden’s attorney Abbe Lowell. According to the New York Post, this meeting has caused concerns about the possibility of Hunter’s defiance of the subpoena being coordinated.
The meeting had taken place two days before Biden refused to comply with the subpoena. Bernal, who is known for being Jill Biden’s “work husband” has faced a lot of criticisms regarding his closeness to the first family, as well as his role in accessing classified material at the Penn Biden Center. However, he still manages to continue being close to the Bidens and has an influential role in the White House.
The House Oversight Committee’s investigation into the classified documents that appeared to be mishandled by President Biden has caused even more questions to arise regarding Bernal’s role. This in part is prompted by the committee’s efforts to determine whether there was any coordination between the White House and Hunter Biden.
Previously Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) who is the chairman of the committee pushed for more transparency and argued that the White House needed to publicly provide information about this meeting.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has avoided making any comments regarding this, pointing out that Hunter Biden is a private citizen who is independent of the administration.
