(TheRedWire.com) – On Friday, the Biden campaign released an ad that targeted three Republican presidential candidates over their position on abortion, helping highlight this issue, which is going to be central in Biden’s 2024 presidential campaign.
The ad is called “These Guys” and slams former President Donald Trump, Sen. Tim Scott (S.C.), and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis over their views on abortion. The ad notes that President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris would never allow a national abortion ban to be passed into law. It adds that so long as those two are in the White House, choices about one’s body would remain with themselves and would not be made by others.
The ad points explicitly to some of Trump’s past comments. In 2016, he claimed that women who had sought an abortion should be punished somehow. It also points out that Trump has repeatedly claimed credit for appointing the three conservative Supreme Court justices who helped overturn Roe v. Wade.
Following the overturning of Roe v. Wade in the summer of 2022, abortion became one of the big issues in electoral politics, and Democrats have achieved several political victories as many voters were unhappy about the attempts to limit abortion rights.
The ad further points out that DeSantis has established a six-week abortion ban in Florida. Most women are unaware that they are pregnant within the first six weeks of pregnancy. On the other hand, Scott stated that if he wins the presidential election, he will oppose conservative legislation on abortion.
