(TheRedWire.com) – Donald Trump Jr. faulted the FBI for the devastating shootings in Maine that resulted in numerous fatalities, contending that if the agency shifted its focus from investigating those he termed “MAGA patriots,” they might have been able to prevent the tragedy. “The perpetrator in Maine was already flagged by law enforcement, had prior mental health commitments, and wasn’t allowed to possess firearms,” he stated on a social media platform. Trump Jr. insinuated that the FBI’s efforts were misplaced, accusing them of monitoring religious groups, parents at school meetings, and conservative activists rather than focusing on genuine threats.

These comments come as authorities intensify their search for the man believed to be behind the horrifying events in Maine that killed 18 people and wounded 13 others in separate locations—a bar and a bowling center. The suspect, identified as Robert Card, was previously committed to a mental health institution, according to an internal police bulletin. The same bulletin noted that Card had expressed delusional thoughts and made threats against a National Guard Base in Maine.

In a related revelation, the Army confirmed that a Robert Russell Card II, with matching birth details, has been an Army reservist since December of the previous year, specializing in petroleum supply. He has not seen combat service.

Trump Jr.’s critique of the FBI is consistent with past remarks from him and other conservative voices who have previously criticized the federal government for alleged overreach. Earlier this year, the FBI Director was subpoenaed by the Republican-led House Judiciary Committee to answer questions about alleged investigations into Catholic communities in Virginia. Committee Chairman Jim Jordan also claimed whistleblower evidence suggesting that the FBI was compiling data on parents attending school board meetings, prompted by an increase in intimidation and threats toward board members.

The recent attacks occurred at two locations in Lewiston, Maine. A vehicle believed to belong to Card was later discovered at a nearby boat landing. Federal and local law enforcement agencies are actively involved in the search for the suspect, with no confirmed motive. Reports indicate that Card acted erratically during a recent deployment, prompting medical evaluation, but was released.

Maine’s Governor has warned the public to avoid any contact with the suspect, describing him as armed and dangerous. The large-scale involvement of federal agencies like the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives highlights the gravity of the situation. Law enforcement is also looking into Card’s mental health as part of their ongoing investigation.
