(TheRedWire.com) – Michelle Obama is the favorite candidate to replace President Joe Biden in the 2024 presidential election if he opts to step down before the election according to a bookmaker. However, the first lady had not launched a presidential campaign.

Betfair, a betting company, found that the current odds are at 4/9, or 69 percent on Biden becoming the Democratic nominee in November. The 81-year-old president has won in the Democratic primaries in Nevada, South Carolina, and New Hampshire so far and is the only major Democrat in the race. However, there is an increase in the concerns regarding Biden’s health. These worries have further been strengthened by the recent gaffes which have triggered a lot of speculations about him potentially stepping down from the race.

Betfair found that Michelle  Obama was the second favorite in the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee with her odds being 8/1 or 11 percent. This would set her up as the highest-performing alternative to Biden.

Following Obama the next more popular option is California Governor Gavin Newsom with 12/1 or 7.7 percent, followed by Vice-President Kamala Harris with 15/1 or 6.3 percent, and then Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer with 74/1  and Senator Elizabeth Warren with 79/1, both of them have the equivalent of 1.3 percent. The last possible option is Hillary Clinton with 94/1 or 1.1 percent.

Sam Rosbottom, the spokesperson for Betfair acknowledged that Biden’s mental acuity was what had caused some punters to place their bets on other possible candidates.

He added that at the beginning of the primary season four years ago, Biden wasn’t the favorite to win the Democratic nomination or the White House. However, he added that things were looking much clearer now as he is most likely to be the Presidential nominee.
