(TheRedWire.com) – On Tuesday, Attorney General Merric Garland received a letter from the House GOP in which they accuse Hunter Biden’s legal team of attempting to “intimidate and harass” the two whistleblowers from the IRS who have provided information about the tax investigation on the President’s son.

Reps. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, James Comer, R-Ky., and Jason Smith, R-Mo., have claimed that Biden’s legal team has attempted to intimidate both Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler, who recently came forward with allegations that there was political interference that delayed the investigation into Hunter Biden’s taxes. The letter further claims that Biden’s attorneys have “slandered” the two men and are calling for the Justice Department to prosecute them.

The letter further states that federal law protects whistleblowers and that the attempts to intimidate them are raising “serious concerns” about the Committees’ probe being obstructed. This is why they are calling for the Department to take action against Hunter Biden’s legal team over their attempts to intimidate the two IRS whistleblowers.

The letter also sets a deadline by which the Department of Justice needs to provide them with access to any communications that the Department has had with Biden’s legal team in which Biden’s attorneys are pushing for the prosecution of the whistleblowers, as well as any other document that relates to a criminal probe against Ziegler and Shapley being launched.

Garland will testify before the House Judiciary Committee on Sept. 120 as part of a standard oversight hearing. The letter came on the day House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., was expected to endorse the impeachment inquiry into President Biden.
