(TheRedWire.com) – Vice President Kamala Harris was blasted by conservatives on Twitter following her speech in Nashville in which she condemned the Tennessee Republicans for their recent attempts to expel the Democrats from the state legislature.
Conservatives on Twitter, however, stated regarding Harris’ “loud” speech, which came as a response to the expulsion of two state representatives from the legislature, and an attempt for a third one to also be expelled. During a speech at a church in the state on Friday, Harris claimed that the GOP majority was trying to push for Democrats to be silent and push aside the voters they represent.
Many GOP state leaders, including Tennessee Republican Caucus Chair Rep. Jeremy Faison, justified the expulsion, stating that the lawmakers had taken part in a tense protest in the state Capitol the previous week. He even went as far as to describe them as “leading a choir.”
However, Harris’ during her speech practically yelled that this is not about the three expelled members, but rather about the people that had voted for them, whom they were representing. She added, “It’s about whose voices they were channeling! Understand that!”
Throughout this segment of the speech, she was very animated and proceeded to say that democracy was not about silencing or stifling people.
One critic on Twitter criticized Harris for how “loud” she got and mocked her animated speech while defending the protests at the Tennessee capitol.
