(TheRedWire.com) – Former President Donald Trump could be creating problems for GOP congress members as they try to gain support in a number of competitive battles in order to win back the Senate majority and maintain their majority in the House. Still, Trump has recently been making a number of remarks regarding immigration, health care, and several other issues that are unlikely to draw in swing voters.

During the weekend, Trump took to his social media platform Truth Social to state that he was looking at possible alternatives to ObamaCare and argued that if he won back the Whtie House, he would attempt once again to replace the Affordable Care Act.

These remarks were surprising to Republican lawmakers as campaigning against the healthcare law has been largely left behind following the party’s inability to have it repealed. There is also no consensus among party members about what possible options exist for replacing it.

Senate Republican Whip John Thune (S.D.) stated regarding Trump’s remarks that he did not know what the former President was referring to. He added that he supported the idea of lowering costs and creating a more efficient healthcare system. However, he did not know what Trump’s proposal actually was.

Senate Health Committee ranking Republican Sen. Bill Cassidy (La.) similarly stated that he did not know what Trump was referring to but argued that it was unlikely for them to repeal the Act. He further pointed out that Congress members were narrowly divided on this issue.
